The department of Information Technology is launched in 2020 under the college of Natural and Computational Sciences. Currently, the department is founded under the College of engineering and technology established in 2022. The department started its works with 7 academic staffs by having 44 regular students. Furthermore, the department started its teaching by launching Extension and Summer undergraduate program in 2019. Later, the department expanded undergraduate programs into postgraduate by opening an MSc program in 2023. Recently, the department is carrying out its activities with a total of 10 academic staff and 1 technical assistant. Out of the academic staff members, 9 MSc degree holders and 1 PhD are active staffs. The rest 1 staff member is on study leave doing his PhD degree.
The aim of Information technology department is to produce high quality IT graduates with entrepreneur and problem-solving mind set for professionals a broad knowledge and skill in information technology management and configuration and maintenance of ICT infrastructures. Lastly, the department has also been highly engaged in research and community services. The department staffs are active in developing research proposals, conducting researches, preparing modules, organizing seminars and providing community services.
